ANTIFOLK Premier in South Florida
The Antifolk Movement has reached sunny Florida, presented by Musified Projects with the help of music empressario David K, Managing Editor of Closer Magazine, stylist to the stars and self-willed talent manager. David's got it. That New York energy and "chutzpuh" that will just make things happen. He's a behind the scenes musical force on our local landscape. David's NY Antifolk Anti All-Stars, PALEFACE, JOIE BLANEY, JEFFREY LEWIS, KEITH MICHAUD AND FREAKIN HOTT took the stage of The Bamboo Room in Lake Worth to a "SOLD-OUT" audience. It was so "sold-out," there was no room for standing.
Not typical folk music, get ready for entetrtainment
At the heart of Antifolk music is a passion for expression, music, language and the arts. It's definitely not your typical folk music and refeshingly so. It's roots seem to stem from the true poet/musician of New York's Greenwich Village circa 1950's and 1960's when coffee houses were the place to be and to see and listen to the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Fugs and other folk music artists that although "unplugged," their powerful words were the wisdom launching the Aquarian Age. Make no mistake, these often blue or black-jeaned and long hair visionaries have expressed themselves into the future before we've all arrived. The one thing about "Folk" however, was that it was always the same. Not until the Antifolk Movement of "Outsider" artists did anyone poke fun at the genre. ..............ICTV1 Pix - Neil London & Pamela Maldonado
